Urban kayaking in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is an almost surreal experience. Most of the Trinity River and its tributary creeks seem to be forgotten by surrounding cities. Lavish green, overgrown banks, and huge trees and shrubbery, completely separate the waterways from urban sprawl. Only the plastic trash is a sad reminder that we are within one of the biggest metropolitan areas in the USA. Multiple man-made lakes make kayaking and canoeing choices even more exciting.

Water levels mainly depend on rainfall and release from upstream reservoirs, which could at times be high, turbulent, and dangerous. Check with USGS for any major release before planning your trip.
